Kechaeva Studio is the San Francisco practice of designer Masha Kechaeva. My background is in theatre. For 10+ years I’ve designed and built sets, props and lighting for brand campaigns, events and stage productions, from the first sketch to install day. That’s where I learned to think about how people move through a space as much as how it looks. I believe in handcraft, and in the worlds it lets me build.

Design Consultation

The starting point for your idea. I help you work out the concept and the layout of the space, so the vision is clear before anything gets built. I’ve worked hands-on with materials and fabrication for years, which means I can tell you early on what’s possible within your budget.

What I do

Campaign Set Design

Full production support for photo and video campaigns: concept design, prop styling, and fabrication. I’m also on set for the shoot, so the design you approved is what ends up on camera.

Event Design

A brand launch, a milestone celebration, a one-off installation. Each event gets its own atmosphere, shaped around what the moment calls for. Building it is my favorite part.

Workshops

I love teaching what I know about putting a space together, from setting a table to building a set for a photoshoot. Small details or full productions, I teach the same thinking I bring to my own projects.
